It’s 2021!!! Business is booming and you feel your online marketing plan is perfect! You have a Pinterest strategy? Check! Courses? Check! On point social media and email marketing game? Check and check! So, what’s next?
Starting your YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
These days, more and more online business coaches and service providers are using video to promote their services or products on Pinterest, Instagram, and their websites. But they’re choosing to skip YouTube.
WHY?
Often, it’s because they think starting and maintaining a YouTube channel is either too much work or they don’t understand how it will benefit their online marketing strategy in 2021.
I’m here to tell you that YouTube is a GREAT place for you to be if you have an online business and are ready to expand your online marketing plan. YouTube can help your online business be more searchable, use SEO (search engine optimization), build your credibility and reach a new audience.
Most importantly, you build Know. Like. and Trust with your viewers. This makes your audience feel like they KNOW you, and in turn, more likely to buy from you now or in the future.
YouTube is considered to be the second-largest search engine in the world. In fact, there are more than 31 million YouTube channels and 2 billion monthly viewers on the platform! It’s understandable that some online businesses might avoid YouTube when you consider these numbers. BUT, I’m here to tell you: NEVER FEAR! YouTube can and will benefit your business if you have the right strategy.
YOU: So, Amanda, why should I start a YouTube channel?
MY ANSWER: There are several reasons! One is that Google is prioritizing video in the results they provide to searchers. Additionally, video content is becoming increasingly important in our work and personal lives due to the “thing that shall not be named.” Think about Tiktok, Instagram Reels, and even Instagram Stories. More people are working from home, or, are out-of-work and looking to move into a new career.
First of all, you will be more searchable. Think of the last time you searched for something on Google. Did videos pop up on the first page of your search results? Most likely, yes! Videos appear high up there along with the most popular links and photos. Search engines highly value video content. This is one reason why your business should be on YouTube.
Hot tip! Try writing a blog post and then create a video on the topic for YouTube. Having a blog post AND a video means that your content is going to be found by more people on search engines like Google.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the top reason I recommend online businesses and coaches start a YouTube channel. Arguably, there are two paths channels can follow: YouTuber or SEO-focused.
Youtubers care most about increasing their subscribers and video views. Whereas channels with an SEO-focus are more concerned with their content being found on search engines and helping that content rank higher.
Example – Let’s say you use the hot tip from above. You write a blog post about “5 Important Mindset Hacks for Business Coaches” and then film a video using the blog post as a script. When a person goes to Google and types something related to your blog post/ YouTube video, you are more likely to rank higher in the search results because you have TWO juicy pieces of content to share.
Hot tip! Tools like TubeBuddy and Keywords Everywhere will help you tremendously on YouTube.
Having a YouTube channel can help you build your credibility by showcasing your personality. More people these days want to build relationships (and buy from) brands they can trust and believe in. By watching your YouTube videos, your audience can build an ongoing virtual relationship with you and your business.
Try creating How-To videos for your YouTube channel. They’re highly sought after and will definitely build up the Know-Like-Trust factor when your viewers see how much of a business bad-ass you are.
Hot Tip! Be your authentic self! Don’t be afraid to be open and show your quirks or bloopers! Most of us can relate to flubbing over our words or that one pesky hair that won’t get out of your face. Silly hair (shakes fist at sky).
Reach a new audience and help build new leads by starting a YouTube channel. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, YouTube has a MASSIVE audience. It has 2 billion active monthly users and 30 million daily active users. Can you guess how many videos are watched each day??? 1 B-I-L-L-I-O-N!!!
Holy moly!!! That’s a lot of potential viewers and leads!
Yes, indeed!
And not only will you be growing a new audience of potential leads to whom you can promote your services and products… but you’ll also be providing content to visual learners. Not everyone learns best by reading. Some of us need to see and do! When you create new content or repurpose old content on YouTube, you are educating viewers who may not want to read your blog or Instagram post. In addition, you can caption your videos using a paid captioning tool like Rev.com to make your posts accessible to the Deaf community.
Hot Tip! End each of your videos with a CTA like “Don’t forget to subscribe!” or “Sign up for XYZ.” It may sound silly to repeat this more than once BUT that verbal reminder helps!

These days, people are craving human connection more than ever. They don’t want to see the perfect Instagram feed or highlight reel. Your audience wants to buy from online businesses that they trust; people they want to be friends with (if they meet IRL). YouTube is an excellent place for you to accomplish this goal with an online video marketing strategy.
